Overview

Located in the bustling Gateway Mall of Kuala Lumpur, KimchiRang invites diners on an authentic journey through Korean flavors. This Korean restaurant, nestled conveniently beside Village Grocer in Bangsar South, offers a vibrant menu that highlights classic dishes like Kimchi Ramen, Beef Bibimbap, Japchae, and Samgyetang. Their focus on traditional recipes is clear, bringing a balance of spice, savory depth, and comforting textures to each plate.

The star attraction for many is their Kimchi Ramen—a spicy Korean ramen infused with the distinctive tang of kimchi, enhanced further with melted cheese for a creamy twist. It offers a rich, warming experience, especially for those who appreciate bold, fermented flavors. Alongside, the Beef Bibimbap stands as a wholesome option, combining tender beef, seasoned vegetables, and warm rice, though some diners find it straightforward rather than elaborate, emphasizing authenticity over flair.

Another crowd favorite is the Japchae, stir-fried glass noodles tossed with fresh vegetables. It boasts generous portions and a satisfying chew, embodying the Korean palate’s love for balanced textures. Complementing these main dishes are snacks and sides like the Cheese Tteokbokki and Garlic Soy Chicken with Cheese, which add a modern, indulgent touch to the traditional spread.

KimchiRang’s atmosphere suits both casual office lunches and casual dining outings. The location within a busy mall means it can become lively, especially during peak hours, appealing to professionals and Korean food enthusiasts alike. The space is welcoming, with staff providing free-flow Korean corn tea and iced green tea, a thoughtful nod to refreshment that pairs well with their meal offerings.

While the flavors tend toward authentic, some guests note a slight variation—like a tangier kimchi in their kimchi jigae or a mild sweetness in their chicken dishes—that showcases the chef’s personal touch. Portions are generous but not overwhelming, striking a balance suited for sharing or individual meals. Pricing is on par with similar establishments in the area, reflecting the quality and experience on offer.

The service is a mixed bag. While friendly and efficient, occasional moments reveal room for improvement in customer attentiveness—a reminder that small gestures can influence the dining experience profoundly. However, free-flow beverages and the gracious provision of traditional banchan (side dishes like braised quail eggs and pajeon) elevate the overall dining journey.

In summary, KimchiRang stands out as a reliable spot for Korean cuisine in Kuala Lumpur, combining authentic flavors with a diverse menu and a convenient location. It caters well to those who are seeking an accessible Korean meal experience—whether a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner—with a comforting, homemade feel and a touch of modern flair.

First time coming to this restaurant. Not too far from the office. When we arrived, people just started to come by. Packed during lunch hour. Menu was quite extensive. Sorry, didnt snap any menu pics. We ordered Kimchi Jigae and Beef Bibimbap. The kimchi jigae was a bit sour compared to other resto. But I liked it alot. The kimchi here has a sour taste to it. The bibimbap was just ok. Nothing fancy. Will definitly be coming back. Love the banchan as well. Braised quail eggs n pajeon. Downside, the price is slightly higher to other resto. But still average in price.

If you don't mind the price of food I would say this restaurant offers authentic korean food. Tried Cheese Tteopokki, Japchae, and Soy Garlic Chicken with cheese all taste very good. On average each food item is around 25 Rm.

Tried their Chicken Set Value Meal for RM25. Chicken was good. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Not spicy but has a slight sweet taste to it. Rice and the chicken by themselves can be quite dry but the soup from the skewers(?) helps. The drink is free flow. Self service. Card payment available.

Friendly Muslim Korean Restaurant located at GroundFloor KL Getaway Mall. To be exact just next to Village Grocer. Tried most of their menus and been there twice and maybe again soon. Portion and price wise i would say reasonable. It has its own style of korean taste, i love their japchae, bulgogi , bibimbap and ramen and delicious crunchy white carrot pickles. They served free refillable ice green tea.

My friend brought me to her favourite Korean soup spot — Kimchirang — so we checked out the KL Gateway branch. . Here’s what we ordered: . 1. Sundubu Seafood (RM26) Spicy, flavourful tofu broth loaded with seafood, egg, and enoki mushrooms. A solid, satisfying bowl. . 2. Spicy Chicken (RM18) Very spicy — the usual Korean sweet–spicy mix. Not my preference, but heat lovers will enjoy it. . 3. Japchae (RM23) Big portion of stir-fried glass noodles. Would’ve been better with more toppings to balance the dish. . Service-wise… this part needs work. The staff’s facial expression said everything — annoyance, hesitation, and the subtle “why you need extra cutlery?” look. Small gestures, but they matter. And they do push customers away. . Overall, the food is decent and served hot. Free-flow water and tea are a nice bonus. . . Follow for more honest bites and real food reviews. JSE @ 20251116

The fish cake soup here is absolutely authentic. They always pack extra sauce separately when I request it. The rice and fried chicken are also delicious. I ate here five times in one week—highly recommend this place! The staff is also very friendly.
